Emigration Canyon stands quietly to the east of Salt Lake City. The 8-mile-long Emigration Canyon Road tops out at Little Mountain Pass, from where you can view the Mill Creek Ridge to the south, Lookout Peak to the north, and Upper Mountain Dell Reservoir below. Salt Lake’s Hogle Zoo stands at the mouth of this canyon. Directly across the street, This Is The Place Heritage Park marks the spot where Mormon pioneer, Brigham Young, declared Salt Lake Valley their new home. And above that, the Bonneville Shoreline Trail forms a nearly infinite network of crisscrossing trail perfect for hiking, running, and biking.
